Man of Rochdale 2025

Springhill Hospice proudly marked the 31st year of the prestigious Man of Rochdale Awards, an annual celebration that began in 1994 and continues to shine a light on remarkable individuals who make extraordinary contributions across the Rochdale borough.

Once again, the event brought together a room filled with community champions and their supporters, demonstrating the spirit of kindness, generosity, and compassion that defines the borough.

As always, the selection process proved incredibly difficult, with this year’s nominees representing a wide range of community initiatives, voluntary work, and selfless acts that enrich the lives of local people.

The worthy winner, Michael Bamford, was announced to enthusiastic applause, with guests unanimous in their view that Michael is truly deserving of the prestigious Man of Rochdale title. His outstanding contributions to the community and his unwavering commitment to supporting others have made a lasting and meaningful impact across the borough.

Sophie Anderson, Fundraising Manager for Springhill Hospice, said:.”Every year we are in awe of the selfless work of the gentleman nominated for this award. On top of this, Springhill Hospice is honoured to organise such a special event and be the recipient of the funds raised. Congratulations to Michael, the very worthy winner on his exceptional contribution to our town.”

Springhill Hospice extends heartfelt thanks to everyone who nominated their local heroes, to the sponsors who made the evening possible, and most of all to the nominees themselves, whose dedication and service continue to uplift the Rochdale community.
