Donations make a real difference

The income from your donated items helps fund specialist nursing, bereavement support, Wellbeing services and more. Whether it’s a warm winter coat, a much-loved book, or a piece of furniture with stories to tell, your preloved goods can help fund compassionate end of life care. With your generosity, we can continue to be there when people need us most.

What can I donate?

We gladly accept the following items at our shops:

What we can accept

Clothing:
Ladies’, men’s and children’s clothing in good, wearable condition
Accessories:
Shoes, handbags and jewellery
Homeware:
Mirrors, pictures, vases, clocks, curtains and rugs
Kitchenware:
Dinner sets, pans, scales and similar household items
Bedding:
Clean duvet covers, pillowcases and throws
Bric-a-brac:
Undamaged decorative items and general household bits
Books, DVDs and CDs:
Originals only (no home-recorded copies please!
Toys & games:
CE marked, clean, complete and in working order
Jigsaws:
Complete and boxed
Small electricals:
Including flat-screen TVs, DVD/Blu-ray players, radios, hi-fis, lamps, kettles, toasters, and hair styling tools (all in working condition)

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept

Clothing and textiles:
Without fire safety labels, including certain nightwear and children’s items (e.g. fancy dress, knitwear with drawstrings).
Children’s items:
Car seats, soft toys without a CE label, mattresses, and prams or pushchairs that haven’t undergone safety checks.
Homeware and furniture:
Without fire-retardant labelling, as well as certain items like cushions, partially burned candles, and gas appliances.
Electrical goods:
That haven’t been PAT tested, and excluded items like electric blankets, oil-filled radiators and petrol-fuelled garden tools.
Safety and sports equipment:
Including helmets, harnesses, life jackets, and firefighting gear.
Software and tech:
Home-recorded DVDs/CDs, used laptops, USBs, and hard drives (unless new and sealed).
Weapons and related items:
Knives, swords, martial arts gear, and replica firearms.
Personal items:
Used underwear, piercing jewellery, used cosmetics or toiletries, and prescription eyewear.

Can I donate furniture?

Our Springhill Home & Furniture store is able to accept donations of furniture and home goods. Plus if you need help transporting larger items, we offer a free collection service. Book a collection here.

We accept a wide range of good quality furniture, including:

  • Sofas and armchairs
  • Tables and dining sets
  • Wardrobes, drawers, and cabinets
  • Bed frames and mattresses
  • Coffee tables and bookcases
  • Small electrical items

Please note: All upholstered furniture must have a valid fire safety label attached.
We are unable to collect broken, stained, or heavily damaged items.

How does furniture collection work?

We know letting go of furniture, especially if it holds memories, can be a big decision. That’s why we’ve made our charity furniture collection process as simple and thoughtful as possible.

  • Tell us what you’d like to donate by filling in the form below, it only takes a couple of minutes.
  • Our friends over at Boxmove will be in touch to review your request and confirm the details.
  • You’ll receive a text message with your collection time, so you’ll know exactly when to expect us.
  • On the day, our team will arrive with care and respect, just make sure the items are ready and easy to access.

Can I Gift Aid my preloved donations?

Yes you can! By simply signing up for Gift Aid when you drop off your goods, we can claim an extra 25p for every £1 we raise from the sale of your donated items. That means your support goes even further in helping us care for patients and families across our community.

All we need is your name, address and permission to claim. Our shop team will guide you through the quick and simple sign-up process when you drop off your items. Every item you donate under Gift Aid is tracked, and you’ll receive an annual update showing how much your donations have raised.
