      About Springhill Education

Training that transforms care, because every moment counts  What does Springhill Education do? Springhill Education offers a variety of courses aimed at those who work in health and social care settings, specialising in palliative and end of life care. We nurture a culture of care that is compassionate, we recognise the individual needs of each person and their loved ones, and we believe in being open and transparent. Our courses help develop kindness as well as the skills and confidence to care for those with palliative care needs.  Some of our courses are available free of charge to health professionals working in the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale area and are chargeable to those outside the borough. Springhill’s Education Team is committed to making the sessions interesting and useful, by encouraging group discussions, practical tasks, and reflection. .stk-ad157eb .stk-button{padding-top:16px !important;padding-right:25px !important;padding-bottom:16px !important;padding-left:25px !important;background:#16724A !important;border-top-left-radius:50px !important;border-top-right-radius:50px !important;border-bottom-right-radius:50px !important;border-bottom-left-radius:50px !important;}.stk-ad157eb .stk-button:hover:after{background:#FFCC00 !important;opacity:1 !important;}.stk-ad157eb .stk-button__inner-text{color:#ffffff !important;font-weight:bold !important;}.stk-ad157eb .stk-button:hover .stk-button__inner-text{color:#000000 !important;}Click here to view our courses What does the Springhill Education Unit offer? • Training Courses
      Training Courses

Our courses are suitable for all grades of Health and Social Care staff and aim to build knowledge, skills and confidence in palliative and end of life caregiving. IMPORTANT NOTICEWe want to share an important update regarding the education and training programmes provided by Springhill Hospice. For many years, Springhill Hospice has been proud to offer education and training opportunities to colleagues across Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale at no cost. However, we must now let you know that, due to increasing financial pressures and a significant and ongoing deficit, it is no longer sustainable for us to continue delivering education free of charge. Like many hospices, Springhill is facing rising costs alongside growing demand for hospice and palliative care services. Our priority must remain the delivery of specialist care to patients and families at the end of life. To protect these essential services and ensure the long-term sustainability of the Hospice, we need to recover the costs associated with delivering education. What this means– From 1st May 2026, education and training delivered by Springhill Hospice will be subject to a charge.– Fees will be set at a level that reflects the true cost of planning, delivering and maintaining high-quality, specialist education.– We will continue to ensure our training remains practical, evidence-based and delivered by experienced hospice professionals. Our continued commitmentThis decision has not been taken lightly. We remain fully committed to working in partnership with the wider system to improve care for people with life-limiting illness and those at the end of life. Charging for education allows us to sustain the expertise and quality of our teaching, continue sharing best practice and specialist knowledge, and protect and prioritise frontline hospice services for patients and their loved ones. We firmly believe that investing in education supports better outcomes for patients, staff confidence, and system-wide quality of care. For more information, please contact:Jane Ashworth, Palliative Care Education and Development LeadJane.Ashworth@springhill.org.uk or 01706 752361 All our courses are evidence-based, directly relevant to practice and underpinned by current research. Our educators endeavour to ensure that you find the sessions valuable as well as enjoyable. The team are experienced, committed to supporting you and keen to provide stimulating sessions which help motivate and educate. We want to help you make the most of your learning opportunity and realise your potential. .stk-64dbad8 .stk-button-group{flex-wrap:wrap !important;--stk-button-group-flex-wrap:auto !important;}.stk-64dbad8 .stk-button-group .stk-block-button{width:unset !important;} .stk-1b0a4bd , .stk-1b0a4bd .stk-button{width:100% !important;}.stk-1b0a4bd {flex:1 0 var(--stk-button-group-flex-wrap, 0) !important;}.stk-1b0a4bd .stk-button{padding-top:16px !important;padding-right:25px !important;padding-bottom:16px !important;padding-left:25px !important;background:#16724A !important;border-top-left-radius:50px !important;border-top-right-radius:50px !important;border-bottom-right-radius:50px !important;border-bottom-left-radius:50px !important;}.stk-1b0a4bd .stk-button:hover:after{background:#96D5E6 !important;opacity:1 !important;}.stk-1b0a4bd .stk-button__inner-text{color:#fffffe !important;font-weight:bold !important;}.stk-1b0a4bd .stk-button:hover .stk-button__inner-text{color:#000000 !important;}Resources .stk-a775fab , .stk-a775fab .stk-button{width:100% !important;}.stk-a775fab {flex:1 0 var(--stk-button-group-flex-wrap, 0) !important;}.stk-a775fab .stk-button{padding-top:16px !important;padding-right:25px !important;padding-bottom:16px !important;padding-left:25px !important;background:#16724A !important;border-top-left-radius:50px !important;border-top-right-radius:50px !important;border-bottom-right-radius:50px !important;border-bottom-left-radius:50px !important;}.stk-a775fab .stk-button:hover:after{background:#96D5E6 !important;opacity:1 !important;}.stk-a775fab .stk-button .stk--inner-svg svg:last-child, .stk-a775fab .stk-button .stk--inner-svg svg:last-child :is(g, path, rect, polygon, ellipse){fill:#ffffff !important;}.stk-a775fab .stk-button__inner-text{font-size:15px !important;color:#ffffff !important;font-weight:bold !important;}.stk-a775fab .stk-button:hover .stk-button__inner-text{color:#000000 !important;}@media screen and (max-width: 1023px){.stk-a775fab .stk-button__inner-text{font-size:15px !important;}}Course Prospectus 2026 You may be eligible for funding through the Skills for Care Learning and Development Support Scheme.
