Broad Lane Gin by Springhill Hospice

Springhill Hospice are honoured to share our most recent product – our Broad Lane Gin.

Featuring flavours of liquorice root, pink peppercorn and lemon thyme, this London Dry gin is the perfect accompaniment to your favourite tonic or lemonade and every purchase helps to fund palliative care in the local community. 

Melanie Jenkins, Senior Marketing and Communications Officer at Springhill Hospice said: “We wanted the branding to be something that represented the Hospice but would also appeal to gin lovers, no matter where they live: We chose Broad Lane, the road the Hospice is located on, as that address means a lot to a lot of people. 

“We chose the door as the symbol as it represents so much of what we do: the Hospice opens its doors to those who need us, offering a home from home at a difficult time. We are also invited through the doors into patients’ homes to provide comfort and quality care in their happy place. 

“We know to many, the idea of stepping through hospice doors can be daunting, but we want people to know walking through the doors at Springhill can be as comforting and as welcome as a glass of your favourite tipple.

“We think our designer Jenny did a perfect job of designing a label that summed that up and one that’s fancy enough to tell people the gin is as good as our care!

“Proceeds from sales of the gin go straight back into funding the Hospice so anyone who buys a bottle of Broad Lane Gin is helping to keep our doors open which is invaluable to the people of Rochdale.”

Our Broad Lane Gin was made in collaboration with Defiance Spirits Distillery. 

Paul Sheerin from Defiance Distillery said : “The Springhill Hospice gin has started it’s life as a London Dry Gin we make with a liquorice root, lemon thyme, pink peppercorn base, juniper coriander, angelica, about thirteen botanicals, which are vapor infused that we distil at our site at Defiance Spirits Distillery in Rochdale at Spotland Bridge Mill. 

“It’s a beautiful expression of London Dry Gin with a really nice contemporary twist. It’s a great seller.

“The bottle itself is a stunning design, designed by Springhill Hospice, and all collaborated locally. 

“For me obviously Springhill Hospice is well known in Rochdale. Personally, both my Dad and my uncle have been in Springhill Hospice so it’s got a very close connection to me. 

“I’m more than happy to support the hospice today and in the future. 

“I think judging by the look and bottle as it’s been designed and the quality of the liquid inside I think it’s going to sell really well for the hospice and hopefully raise some well needed funds.”
