We offer placements to student nurses. Student nurses from University of Salford and Manchester Metropolitan are allocated placements at the Hospice by the allocation officer. The education audit undertaken by Salford University has approved the placement for two students at a time.
Their time at the Hospice can vary from 4 - 14 weeks. Student Nurses on a community placement may request a spoke placement at the Hospice by getting in touch with the Education Coordinator.
For further information on student nurse placements, please contact Danielle Wood, Inpatient Ward Manager at danielle.wood14@nhs.net
We also offer placements to student counsellors who are in the final year of counselling Diploma or Degree training.
There are opportunities to gain experience in Palliative Care and Bereavement Counselling as well as working with anticipatory grief and related issues, within a supportive BACP Accredited Counselling Service.
The applicant must meet all the essential criteria on the person specification which is available to view by clicking here.
For further information on counselling student placements, please contact Beckie Valentine, Psychological Care Manager at beckie.valentine@nhs.net
With each and every placement we aim to give the student a valuable and enjoyable experience. All we ask in return is that they demonstrate a high level of commitment during their time at Springhill Hospice.
