2023 Christmas Appeal

Springhill's 2023 Christmas Appeal

As many of you know, 2023 has been a very difficult year for the Hospice. Due to the ongoing financial crisis, we have really struggled with funding our care. Part of my job is to look after all our clinical staff, and every day I have the privilege of hearing amazing stories about how my team provide outstanding care and support, not only to our patients but their loved ones too. Going the extra mile to pour a late night brandy or going on the hunt for a limited edition chocolate bar is not out of the ordinary! It is no surprise that we have recently been awarded Outstanding status by the CQC!

This Christmas, we are reaching out to you to ask if you can help fund 150 hours of care, to help keep Springhill going for those who need us most.

Last Christmas, with the help of people like you, over £18,000 was raised for the Hospice, which helped to provide 61 hours of care in our Specialist Inpatient Unit.

I know that we can achieve this target with your incredible help.

Your donation, no matter the size, will make a huge difference to help us reach our goal.

Your kind support will ensure that we will be here for many years to come, providing support to people with life limiting conditions and their loved ones in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale.

Here are some of our wonderful Springhill team on why your support matters.

This year, we would love to increase this, and hope you can help to provide 150 hours!

To meet this challenge, we need to raise £43,800 !

Hi I’m Cora!

I have been with the Hospice since the beginning, way back in 1989, and I’m still here! I love going on adventures and you can often see me out and about on my bike, raising money for the Hospice. I have even cycled the entire width of the USA!

Caring for people has always been a passion of mine, and I have so many lovely memories from the Hospice. I remember one little girl who used to follow me around when I was on shift, she loved my clogs so much she begged her dad get her a matching pair. The next day we were a sight to behold (and you could hear us both coming a mile off)!

Hi I’m Courtney!

Here I am with my daughter Nancy.

Our favourite place to visit in our spare time is the farm; Nancy loves to cuddle all the cute animals.

My Grandma was cared for by the Hospice in 2021.

Seeing how well she was looked after, ignited my passion for palliative care. I have been with the Hospice since February and I absolutely love my job!

Hi I’m Emma!

I live with my husband and our little boy Harrison who is two. We also have Ripley who is a rare breed farm dog,  who we love to go on long walks with, in the countryside.

I have been at the Hospice for 12 years now and have so many special memories.

I remember one lady who loved horses so much we arranged for her to visit the horses at a local farm. Seeing her eyes light up when she petted them warmed my heart. I love the Hospice and can’t think of a better place to work.
