Hello, my name is Lorraine, and I am the Admissions Co-ordinator at Springhill Hospice. I’ve been a nurse for more than 40 years.
My mum was a nurse, and although I wasn’t always sure what I wanted to do, I decided to follow in her footsteps. Four decades later, I’m still passionate about caring for people. Throughout my career, I’ve worked in many areas of nursing, including 17 years with the ambulance service.
A family member who worked at Springhill encouraged me to apply for a role here, and I’m so happy that I did!
Life is a journey, and I believe it’s important that we care for people at every stage of that journey. Springhill Hospice plays such a vital role in supporting patients and their loved ones during some of life’s most difficult moments.
Sadly, my husband passed away this year, which reinforced for me just how important compassionate end of life care really is. At some point, every person will know someone who needs that support. When that time comes, you’ll want them to be cared for by people who are skilled, compassionate and genuinely passionate about what they do.
