Springhill launches a specialised Dementia garden to help their community.

In June, Springhill Hospice was incredibly proud to launch its brand new, fantastic Dementia Garden – created specifically for patients with dementia, in order for them to enjoy an outside space that suits their specific needs. With sensory areas, kinetic sand, and specially selected plants to entice all the senses, the launch of the garden was a huge success; with patients and loved ones getting to make the most of the new space in the sunshine.

Springhill extends a massive thank you to Margaret Diggle, Lynda Coleman, Michelle Hurst, Mei Chan, Brian Harrison, Nina Brown, the team of community volunteers, and everyone else who worked tirelessly over the last few months, to bring the garden to life and make the launch a success. The Hospice is so pleased with how the garden has been received so far by patients and loved ones alike – and can’t wait for the next stages to get underway, where it plans to build even more therapeutic spaces for patients.
