Memory Tree Launch
Springhill Hospice is always looking to support those who have lost someone dear to them and help them remember their loved ones in a special way. It is this motivation that led to the launch of their brand new remembrance sculpture; The Makin Memories Tree, Kindly supported by the Makin family in memory of Tom Makin, who was cared for by Springhill at the end of his life.
Situated pride of place on the Hospice front lawn, the tree offers a unique and beautiful way to remember those who are no longer with us. Gold leaves immortalising your loved one’s name are displayed on the tree for all to view when visiting the gorgeous Hospice grounds. The Makin Memories Tree offers a meaningful way to remember someone, whilst providing Springhill Hospice with vital funding so they can continue providing their care.
On Saturday 27th January, the Hospice held a special grand opening for the tree, with many families from the community in attendance to celebrate the launch. People added their dedication leaves to the branches following a short service from Supporter Engagement Fundraiser Rachel Cutler and other members of Springhill staff.
Marko Dakin, from Memorial Leaves, said; “It’s been an absolute delight working with Rachel and the team here at Springhill to bring this project to life. I’m so happy to see the end result, and the tree looks absolutely stunning in the grounds. I really hope it will bring a lot of happiness and also provide a great fundraising opportunity for the Hospice.”
Springhill Chief Executive, Sam Wells, said; “The Makin Memories Tree is such a special way to remember loved ones, whilst raising funds for us to care for others and their loved ones. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Makin Family, who continue to support Springhill in so many wonderful ways, in memory of Tom. And of course to everyone who attended the launch and bought a leaf.”
