10 Years of our Community Services.

Last week Springhill Hospice was able to mark quite a milestone in its history: 10 Years of our Community Services.

When most people think of a Hospice, they might have a fairly fixed view of what that means, with stark hospital beds at the centre of that vision. This is far from the case at Springhill though: Our Inpatient Unit is warm and welcoming, the rooms are homely with home comforts close to hand.

However, there is so much more than that to Springhill. Besides also offering a Hospice at Home Service, through our Community Services Team we offer training and support around subjects like dementia, end-of-life care for those with a learning disability and advance care planning for patients and loved ones. We also offer courses and support to District Nurses, GPs and other Health Professionals and have recently launched a new course for Informal Carers.

The aim of these Community-focused sessions are at the very core of our values; that every adult in Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale with a life-limiting condition is supported to live and die well, according to their wishes.
We want to give a huge thank you to everyone who has ever worked as part of our Community Services team, from those who were there at its inception to our newest team members, for continuing to grow our services, reach more people and for making every moment count.

We can’t wait to see how far you will have taken us in another 10 years.
