Folk Flock to Festive Day
This Sunday saw hundreds of people flock to the Hospice to attend the Christmas Fair. There were over 45 stalls on the day, and Santa made an appearance to meet lots of our younger guests and give them a present. Oldham Scottish Pipe Band came to support the day and gave a fabulous performance!!
The day was enjoyed by all, and the best bit was the amount raised - creeping up to £9,000.00 and rising!!
Thank you to all who came to support this fantastic cause, and to all of our staff and volunteers who made the day possible.

Surprise start to new era for hospice chief
Money-raising efforts for the hospice by Rochdale folk all came together when Springhill opened its brand new building project on Friday 11th March.
It means that in-patient accommodation at Springhill Hospice is back to full capacity following the completion of a £625,000 refurbishment project.
The unit now offers an additional three single rooms - up from eight to 11 - plus five beds in two and three-bedded bays. There is also a spacious nurses' station and tea bar.
The opening was attended by the borough's two MPs, the mayor and other local dignitaries, plus celebrity guest Michelle Holmes, best known for her roles in Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Goodnight Sweetheart - as well as the film Rita, Sue and Bob Too. The Rochdale-born actress was invited to cut the opening ribbon, however, it was Springhill Hospice chief executive Christine Webb who, to her surprise, was asked to draw back the curtains on the commemorative plaque.
Springhill Hospice organisational operations manager Julie Halliwell told the clearly moved hospice boss: "This is an opportunity to say a big thanks for all your motivation and encouragement. This hospice wouldn't be the place it is without you."
The afternoon began with a welcome from Councillor Robert Clegg, vice-chairman of Springhill Hospice, followed by thanks from Mrs Webb to everyone who had contributed to the project.
It began with the Rochdale Observer's 'Can You Spare A Minute?' appeal, which saw our readers raise £75,000 for the hospice.
Through Help the Hospices a grant of £500,000 was awarded from the Department of Health, plus £10,000 from the Hayward Foundation.
Hospice volunteers Christine Jones and Maureen Stiles provided the finishing touches by donating £40,000 from Springhill Crafts. They and their team of homeworkers have now raised a total £100,000 for the hospice.
Mrs Webb said: "I also want to thank Mrs Geoghegan for paying for the artwork, and a special thank you to Sarah Ford. Sarah has been at the hospice since it first opened and has managed all our developments."

New online fundraising facility
Springhill Hospice has teamed up with Everyday Hero, a specialist software provider to the not-for-profit sector, to offer free online webpages to anybody who wishes to raise funds directly online.
Their software is designed to make fundraising easier, cost efficient and a more enjoyable experience for fundraisers, not-for-profit organisations and donors.
Everyday Hero provides software for over 800 not-for-profit organisations around the world and has helped over 220,000 donors and fundraisers raise money via the Internet.
In just minutes you can build your own page to promote the event you are participating in, then approach your friends, family and colleagues by simply emailing them the unique link to your page.
The advantage of this against the more traditional methods of raising money is that you do not have to obtain people's details on a sponsor form nor chase them up for their donations post-event, as all necessary information - including Gift Aid permission - is taken online via Everyday Hero's secure and PCI compliant payment gateways.
There are also templates for users to create pages in order to raise funds in lieu of birthday gifts, wedding presents, anniversary celebrations and for building In- Memoriam pages to remember loved ones.
Creating your fundraising page could not be easier - to get started just click here.
