In-patientsPatients are admitted under the care of the Medical and Nursing Teams for symptom control, rehabilitation, respite care or pre and post chemotherapy and radiotherapy. |
During their stay, Doctors and Nursing Staff work closely with the patients and families in arranging care in readiness for their return home. If this is not possible, help and support is provided in arranging alternatives for their on-going care.
All staff at Springhill Hospice deliver high standards of care and strive to provide quality of life for patients, families and carers.
The Hospice welcomes family and friends and encourages participation in caring for their loved ones whilst in the Hospice (if this is appropriate). Although there are no restrictions on visiting times, too many visitors can be very tiring for some patients; we ask for your co-operation and understanding on this matter.
Children of all ages are welcome. Toys and books are available for the younger children to play with. Pets can visit by prior arrangement. Overnight accommodation is available for the family, if required.
How to Access the In-Patient Service
Springhill Hospice accepts referrals for admission from all areas of Rochdale and surrounding districts. We provide Day Hospice and Outpatient services and have availability for sixteen in-patient beds. |
To access any of these services your Consultant, GP, District Nurse or Macmillan Nurse must refer you. Each patient/family is assessed individually. Due to bed availability and demands of the service, admission may not be immediate. In such cases, advice and support or possibly a home visit may be arranged.
We will help with any questions or concerns you may have. If there is no one available when you ring, please leave your name and telephone number where we can contact you. We are unable to admit at the weekend but the staff at the Hospice would offer advice, if needed.
We work very closely with other professionals throughout the area to maintain an efficient and effective service for the community. Regular patient satisfaction surveys are undertaken throughout each year. Please ask a member of staff and the results of the surveys will be made available to you.
We also have regular independent inspections carried out by The Healthcare Commission. Their reports can be seen either by requesting a copy from any staff member, or by accessing the Healthcare Commission website at:-
